It is with sincere regret that Bangor Grammarians announce the death this
past weekend of former Headmaster Tom Patton, who resided at Tandragee,
County Armagh.
Mr Patton succeeded Dr Robert Rogers as Headmaster in 1979 and held the
position for some 19 years. He was a frequent attendee at our
association’s London Dinner.
We understand the funeral service will be held at Hamilton Road Baptist
Church next Thursday (20 September). We will provide more details as they
become available; also a fuller tribute will appear in due course.
Bangor Grammarians extend sympathy to Tom’s wife Claire and the family
circle.
I was only a sixth form student but Mr Patton made me very welcome and even visited me in hospital when I had a serious illness after my a-level results. It is with sadness that I learn of his passing.
