Hunter McKee

Hunter McKee sadly passed away in his sleep, aged 90, on 5 July 2016. Until recent years he was a regular attendee at the London Dinner and kept lifelong friendships with the late Des Robinson and Joe Butler Sloss – who remains a regular attendee.

Hunter’s wife Hazel still retains a letter from the School’s Vice-Principal advising that he was a “boy of good academic ability and considerable character, in taking full parts in playing rugby, tennis and debating and dramatic activities”. Hazel met Hunter when they were both studying in London.

In 1956 Hunter attended the National College of Rubber Technology in London, and continued to work in the rubber industry. In later years he retrained as a Maths teacher and taught at Upbury Manor School in Gillingham. Ill health in the 1980s caused early retirement but Hunter continued working in market research.

We extend our condolences to Hazel and the family, and we were pleased to hear from Hazel how much Hunter enjoyed our Dinners.
