Peter Ringrow

Peter Ringrow, who attended Bangor Grammar School between 1962 and 1968, passed away in England on 9 June 2016.

Although he had left Northern Ireland shortly after leaving BGS, a lasting link to the School was forged through Peter’s presence on the squad which secured the Medallion Shield in March 1966.

Peter was born on 23 October 1950 and resided at Abbey Drive during his time at the School. Upon moving to England, the family settled in the Reading area of Berkshire.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Peter started his career as an articled clerk within a local firm. After qualifying in 1977, he broadened his horizons with a large audit firm in London. Five years later he returned to Reading and set up his own practice.

In 2000 Peter joined Vale & West Chartered Accountants as a partner, stepping down as senior partner in 2012. However, he continued to work as a consultant with the firm.

Outside work he was widely known as a great servant of Berkshire County RFU, Shire Hall RFC and rugby in general. In addition, he played golf and enjoyed clay pigeon shooting. Married to Marilyn, Peter is also survived by his three children, Anna, Holly and Oliver, and the wider family circle.
