A group of 42 Year 12 students have just returned safely from another outstanding History Department trip to Krakow, along with four members of staff. Many of our alumni will have fond memories of travelling with us to Krakow, Warsaw and GdaĆsk over the years; this time, our tour focused entirely on Poland’s former royal capital. Over several packed days, the boys immersed themselves in the city’s rich and often challenging history. We visited Auschwitz-Birkenau, toured the remarkable salt mines at Wieliczka, and spent time reflecting in the Jewish district and the site of the former ghetto. Back in the historic heart of Krakow, we explored its medieval streets, market square and castle, walking almost ten miles as we uncovered the stories hidden in every corner. It was a deeply educational and memorable experience for all involved.
