It proved fortuitous, given the bad weather on Thursday, that the traditional Boxing Day hockey fixtures at Gransha Road had been postponed (due to unforeseen circumstances) until today (Saturday).
Although it was dull morning, it was unseasonably mild and the match between Bangor Grammar School Old Boys and the current 2nd XI proved a great attraction for the small but enthusiastic attendance.
The Old Boys won the fixture 4-1 with goals from Adam Reading (2), Johnny McNaught and Glenn Stranaghan. Umpire for the first half was George Wilson, with Chris Harte taking over in the second.
Sincere thanks go to George for organising the event and for sorting out the very welcome coffee, tea and mince pies afterwards in the staff room.
