The committee of Bangor Grammarians extends deepest sympathy to the family of past pupil Robert Gibson, who passed away in tragic circumstances on 18 December past in England and whose funeral service took place at St. Columbanus Parish Church, Bangor, on 28 December 2017.
Robert, who was just 36, attended Bangor Grammar School between 1992 and 1999. After graduating from Durham University, he commenced his career in journalism with his hometown paper, the County Down Spectator. His talent was recognised early on when he won the Press Gazette’s Student Feature of the Year Award.
He subsequently joined the Hexham Courant in the north of England, then The Journal in Newcastle, and, more recently, IT firm Hedgehog Lab, also in Newcastle, as a content strategist.
Bangor Grammarians would recommend the heartfelt tribute to Robert, which appears in this week’s (11 January) edition of the County Down Spectator.
